The traditional Copperplate style serves as a foundation for more expressive and modern approach to lettering. With the same pointed pen we explore the potential for new letter shapes. Basic Copperplate letters remain our safety net and they power supply to an informal letter alphabet. We carry along the traditional rules that allow us to gain elegance and balance. Simultaneously we add more movement and energy causing the letters to "bounce", imparting a playful and carefree quality to our writing.

A workshop with a variety of basic printing techniques to create a 2-dimensional image. Using materials like gelli plates, linoleum, and monoprints, participants will learn to blend traditional and experimental methods, incorporating lines, images, and letters into their artwork. We combine to a traditional or more experimental layer processing. And when the materials themselves already bring transparency, it becomes so much more enjoyable.

Letters in all sizes! We embrace letters and words and look for soft adjustments. With the same pen and color, we can still indicate a difference in size. Same height but different pens determine another interpretation. Will the result remain legible or recognizable? How about longer texts and mutual combinations? What a blessing to play freely with letters, lines and color! And yet here again the quality will float to the surface and appeal to our personal aesthetics.

All the practical effects of ideas from part 1 created a kaleidoscope of options. The interim period has been a conscious choice. Let that creative storm just rest, settle and mature. What happens if we explore 3D? We commemorate, rework, repurpose, recreate? Fascinating what a front, top, bottom or side view can mean? A sheet of paper becomes a book, a mountain, a cloud... The writing and coloring work has already been prepared: all ready for a new story!
